Professor Nicolae Anastasiu

Anastasiu-fotoProfessor Nicolae Anastasiu is a Romanian Professor Emeritus specialising in Sedimentology, Sedimentary Petrography and Depositional Systems. Professor Anastasiu is a member of the Romanian Academy, the former President of Geological Society of Romania and a member of the Faculty of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Bucharest.

Specialising in sedimentology of Mezozoic and Cainozoic siliciclastic deposits and in Facies Models & Depositional Systems, and associated mineral and hydrocarbon resources, Professor Anastasiu’s recent research has focussed heavily on shale gas.

Amongst his many public contributions on the subject of shale gas, Professor Anastasiu has spoken on established national media outlets such as Hot News, Realitatea TV, TVR 1, B1 and Radio Cultural; as well as at conferences both in Romania and internationally.

With his experience, and expertise, his academic position, and research findings,  Professor Anastasiu brings a wealth of knowledge on Romanian shale gas to the Shale Gas Europe Expert Advisory Panel.
